A teaser trailer for the Trainspotting sequel has been released featuring the stars of the original film, exciting fans on social media.

The clip for the film, officially known as T2, is a nod to the acclaimed 1996 movie.

Ewan McGregor, who plays Mark “Rent Boy” Renton, Ewen Bremner (Daniel “Spud” Murphy), Jonny Lee Miller (“Sick Boy” Williamson) and Robert Carlyle (Francis “Franco” Begbie) are seen standing on a remote platform as a train slowly goes past.

Iggy Pop’s Lust For Life plays in the background of the clip.

T2, which is based on Irvine Welsh’s 2002 novel Porno, reunites Trainspotting director Danny Boyle with the cast he helped become international stars.

The release of the trailer comes after Ewan and Ewen were seen on the streets of Edinburgh recreating the famous opening sequence from the first movie.

The duo were seen sprinting out of a shop on Princes Street, with Oscar-winner Danny directing the pair and a large crowd of onlookers gathered.

The cast and crew have been seen filming at various locations across Edinburgh and elsewhere in Scotland over the past few months.

Trainspotting, adapted from Welsh’s 1993 novel of the same name, revolved around a group of heroin addicts in a deprived area of Edinburgh in the 1980s.

Danny’s sequel will be released on January 27 next year.
