Gogglebox star Dom Parker has suspected concussion after a crash during training as he tackled a ski cross course for Channel 4′s The Jump.

The 49-year-old is resting while his condition is monitored following the incident which took place as he practised the tough event at Innsbruck in Austria.

Ski Cross is the challenging sport which last year resulted in Sir Steve Redgrave and Marcus Brigstocke pulling out of the contest due to injuries.

The thrills and spills race is seen as one of the most dangerous winter sports as competitors speed along a custom-built course, taking on jumps and steep banks.

Dom was racing on a 500-metre course developed to push the competitors in the TV series.

A spokeswoman for the show said: “Dom hurt his shoulder and later showed signs of suspected concussion so was monitored and is now resting up.”

It has not yet been decided whether he will continue with the show but programme bosses are hopeful he will be able to return to the slopes.

But the Gogglebox star posted an amusing update on his condition on Twitter.

The programme has already been beset by injuries ahead of its return on Sunday as celebrities have spent the past few weeks developing their skills. Strictly Come Dancing star Ola Jordan withdrew and had to undergo knee surgery following a fall, and Sally Bercow – wife of House Of Commons speaker John – has also had to pull out.

He said recently: “I’ve skied on and off since I was five years old. It’s quite exciting – a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be trained up to do this stuff.”

He added: “I’m not expecting to win, probably because I’m a bit old and a bit fat. But there’s a part of me, deep down, thinking ‘If I’m going to do it, I’d like to be the winner’.”
