COOL, funky and friendly – that’s the tagline for the Creative Innovation Centre’s new jazz night series, which launches at the Paul Street venue in Taunton on Thursday, January 16.
Bristol octet Conjunto Gringo, a group who have appeared at the Glastonbury, Brecon and Swanage festivals, kicks off with Cuban and Latin-inspired dance music at 7.30pm.
Led for two decades by trumpeter Andy Hague, the band’s set comprises tunes by the likes of Stevie Wonder, Tito Puente, Mongo Santamaria and the Afro Cuban All Stars, played on trumpets, sax, trombone, piano, bass, drums and congas.

Night Train Jazz follows on January 30, the Kevin Figes Jazz Quartet on February 6 and quintet Moonlight Saving Time on February 27.
