I DOFF my hat to Taunton Comedy for organising a great night of comedy at Brazz, which proved to be a crowd pleaser.

Without a doubt, Mark Felgate was the best act of the night – understandable as he was the headliner – with a combination of classic stand-up, ventriloquism and comical guitar songs towards the end of his set. The audience were in hysterics and he really put on a show worth seeing.

Danny Buckler, the first act on stage, proved to be an eye-catcher with his energetic and quirky performance. His references to Woking women and the animal kingdom were hilarious, and I hope he was telling the truth about losing his virginity in Brian Blessed’s house.

Steffan Alun and Lea Rose Emery both put in brief appearances. Steffan, who resembles a ‘Welsh Jesus’, was lively, but short on hard-hitting punchlines, particularly when it came to the end.

American Lea was bubbly, and though she was funny her leukaemia joke didn’t go down well with the majority and you felt the tension after that.

Who could forget MC Steve N. Allen, the man with the ‘radio voice’ who did a grand job warming the audience up between each act, and had to be quick on his toes to see out the delay between the middle acts and Mark Felgate’s appearance.

Trish Caller and the team at Genius PR & Events Ltd are quickly proving Taunton has lots to offer when it comes to laugh-out-loud entertainment.
