TICKETS are still available for “a madcap show-within-a-show” at the Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre this Friday.
Told through the wonders of Victorian Music Hall entertainment, Dr Livingstone, I Presume? presents the tale of the great explorer and documents his obsessive travels to the heart of Africa in search of the source of the river Nile - told from an unusual perspective.
The Miracle Theatre company deftly tells the story of Livingstone via a series of music hall turns (song and ballet, ventriloquism and stand-up comedy) – it is as fraught with danger and catastrophe as any expedition into the heart of Africa would be!
Both a hurrah to courage and endurance and a swipe at the 19th century ideals of imperialism, chauvinism and hypocrisy, this curious slice of history is served up as a magnificent melange of musicality, and has received rave reviews elsewhere.
The show starts at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £12 (concessions £10/students £8). Phone 01823-414141.
