HE turned down one monster hit and stormed the charts with another.
Owen Paul shot to fame in 1986 with the single, You’re my Favourite Waste of Time, before going on to tour with Mike and the Mechanics.
He also rejected another song, You Spin Me Round, which was a major success for Dead or Alive.
But that decision never harmed Owen's career which saw him appear on Top of the Pops along with the likes of George Michael and Howard Jones.
You can catch Owen at a special 1980s event where he performs with European chart hitters Strange Arrangement. They featured on two top 20 compilation albums and released a demo that was reviewed by Melody Maker as an ‘almost faultless example of 80's teenage pop’.
The venue is Taunton Rugby Club, Hyde Lane in Taunton on Saturday September 12. Doors open at 7.00pm and the show starts at 8.00pm. Dress to impress in 80’s fashion.
Tickets £10 (plus £1 booking fee) – Box Office link on www.tauntoncomedy.co.uk under ‘upcoming events’ tab.
