TAUNTON’S Brewhouse Theatre will be hosting the UK theatre premier of When Santa Fell To Earth as its Christmas show.
The big-hearted story by Cornelia Funke follows two children’s adventures to save the last real Santa on earth.
Mischievous reindeer Twinklestar has bolted – leaving his Christmas caravan to fall from the sky. Luckily the extraordinary passengers – Niklas Goodfellow, a real-life Santa Claus, two angels and assorted elves – crash-land in a friendly neighbourhood where two children called Ben and Charlotte come to their rescue.
On their trail is Gerold Goblynch with his band of motor-sledge-riding bad santas, a treacherous bunch from Yule Land, who will stop at nothing to steal Christmas.
Cornelia Funke is a multiple award-winning author of children's fiction, best known for The Thief Lord and Dragon Rider and her Inkworld trilogy, the first of which, Inkheart, was recently adapted into a film starring Brendan Fraser, Helen Mirren and Jim Broadbent. The Brewhouse director Robert Miles said: “The Brewhouse is delighted to bring to Somerset the exclusive live theatre premier of this magical seasonal tale by one of the world’s leading children’s authors. “We are very excited to be offering this internationally significant theatrical event as the Christmas highlight of our diverse winter season.”
The show runs from December 7 to January 2.
Tickets go on sale next Tuesday with an exclusive two for one offer for County Gazette readers from 10am Friday until Monday.
