AN evening of music by Gilbert and Sullivan was enjoyed by almost 100 people at a concert arranged by Hemyock Singers.

Held at Hemyock Parish Hall, the concert began with Trial By Jury with main soloists Tony Grosse, Glyn Jones and Jenny Doble.

The interval saw a supper of cheese and pate being enjoyed before the audience were treated to a selection of choruses from The Gondoliers; The Mikado, with soloists Tony Grosse and Anne Monk; The Yeoman of the Guard; The Pirates of Penzance, soloist Mike Cooper; The Sorcerer and I, bringing warm applause at the end of the evening.

The group were accompanied on piano by Nigel Atkinson and conducted by Ron White. Sandy Hannaford was the evening’s compere.

The group will be holding a coffee morning on November 28, with a food bring and buy stall at the Forbes Lounge (Parish Hall) when tickets for the Christmas concert and turkey dinner on December 19, will be on sale.
