MAY I thank Michael Hawkins for his letter in the County Gazette last week (Cars parked, Postbag, November 3) drawing attention to the traffic ‘snarl-up’ at the entrance to Musgrove Park Hospital.

Several residents have been trying to get Somerset County Council to address this matter since last January.

His suggestion that a visit by the police or parking attendant to the area would help has also been tried, as cars parking in Manor Orchard for three days and nights has happened on more than one occasion.

On the morning of April 13, I called County Hall to report an illegally-parked Land Rover in Manor Orchard. It was there all day and no parking attendant came.

The following day, the Land Rover was parked in the same place, so at 9.45am, I again telephoned County Hall and an attendant arrived at 12.35pm. This is the type of response I am beginning to feel is normal for the county council.

Your readers will not be surprised to hear that, up until the time of writing, no one from County Hall or our MP’s office has tried to make contact. Obviously an election is not due for a while.
