THERE were some really great letters in last weeks Gazette, but not the one from the Cotford St Luke resident who is 68 years old, on immigration and praising UKIP.
I am a fellow 68-year-old living in the town centre among immigrants and when I walk down Station Road or East Reach I see many businesses run by immigrants, paying wages and rent.
They are also paying business rates to fund council services in areas like Cotford St Luke.
With a 15 per cent cut next year in corporation tax on big firms like Amazon, we will be more dependent on this local income.
My son has a surf tourism business in another EU country, attracting tourists from all over Europe, paying wages to local people, buying in produce to help his local economy.
We are very proud of him but the devaluation accompanying Brexit is making it harder for him to price UK holidays.
We want to keep trading in a single market with Europe. Calling for a farcical hard Brexit negotiation position, when 48 per cent of us never wanted to leave, is just giving EU negotiators a good laugh.
UKIP have nothing more to offer us.
