ANOTHER week passes and the County Gazette enthrals us with a further “vision”.

We have had more visions than St Paul had on the road to Damascus. When, I wonder, is any of this likely to materialise?

Does anyone remember the vision for the development of the Crescent car park and whatever became of that?

The vision for Firepool is still largely unfulfilled, some 10 years after the market moved out, so-called to a more appropriate location. To be fair that was achieved, the only problem was that it was in Bridgwater.

We were told the new NIDR would unlock huge potential once opened and while this may be true, said NIDR is two years overdue and still no date as to when it is likely to be open.

We appear to go from one project to another without completing anything. The latest whim is carried in your editorial this week. Doesn’t anyone listen? Don’t answer that as it was a rhetorical question.

Large housing developments are planned in the Comeytrowe and Staplegrove area and residents are crying out for the supporting infrastructure, primarily roads, to carry increased traffic and the proposal is to create fewer roads to make the town centre more friendly – really!

Is it proposed to reclassify Upper High Street as the Taunton bypass?

The rot set in when our once attractive market town was altered, removing the avenue of trees, flower beds and grassed areas in front of the Market House, replaced with the sterile blocks in the road surrounding the town centre.

Don’t worry (be happy), we can now press on and take over West Somerset District Council (sorry, form a new partnership).
