TALK of charging a deposit on glass bottles, to ease recycling, is a good idea.
When I was a child in the 1950s before recycling/climate change etc. was an issue, I used to run errands for the lady next door.
She used to pay me by giving me four glass bottles to return to our local shop at three old pence a time, giving me a grand total of one old shilling!
Not only could I use the money to go to the cinema, but I was helping, in a small way, to save the planet (of course at that time I had no idea I was doing it, nor I suspect, did anyone at that time!).
But to get back to the present, when you consider the amount of bottles being dumped, charging a deposit can only be a positive thing!
