ANOTHER 2,500 houses planned for Monkton Heathfield.
Yes, we need more housing especially affordable and social housing for families who cannot get on the housing ladder.
Residents would be more likely to accept a massive expansion of Taunton if our local councils had a track record of providing roads and other infrastructure needed to accompany the new estates.
Taunton Deane and Somerset county councils have a record of abject failure. Our MP said when seeking election, “I have been working with the council and developers to ensure the transport links and school places are delivered in a timely manner”. She then did nothing.

In the Monkton Heathfield and Bathpool areas, Somerset Highways boasted a wonderful new bypass off the A338 but it turned out to be just a glorified access road for the new housing estates.
Locals and others attempting to reach the town centre will find a huge increase in traffic and no way to alleviate the jams.
