AS someone who has lived in Norton Fitzwarren for some 30 years, we are a village of two halves, with a main road splitting the north side of the village and the south.

But we are growing by the year. We now have a large doctor’s practice a vet and a small but well stocked supermarket

And of course our village hall, where we have loads going on, like dance classes and bingo.

Now the new entertainment is open on Tuesday, Wednesday and

Thursday’s from 10am until 2pm, this is our new community coffee shop called Skittles, mainly because the group running it have taken over the old skittle alley.

Visitors can come and enjoy a nice pot of tea or a mug of coffee at a very reasonable price, plus the speciality of our coffee shop, homemade cake.

Every week we in the village have volunteers who set about making cakes for the coffee shop, each person making a different cake weekly, so that we have a good selection and can tempt people’s taste buds.

It’s a great atmosphere, with quiet background music from the 40s, 50s and 60s and those that come will be welcomed with a friendly smile and an English-type ‘Hello, you can sit and enjoy your stay with us’.

And you do not have to be a member of the Norton community, we are very happy to welcome those who are just passing through, we do have parking behind the village hall then it’s a case of following the signs to the coffee shop.

So please come and visit us, we would love to see you, and if it’s too hot to sit inside, then we have tables outside, we can even supply a drink for your pet.

So we in Norton Fitzwarren are looking forward to meeting those outside our village who want to enjoy a quiet drink and a piece of homemade cake.
