AS an old Tauntonian, I smile at new plans for our County Town.
While the latest £20m plan for a new Brewhouse appears to be a good idea, you need to look at all the previous plans: The Tangier development is a boarded-up eyesore, the Firepool area, try not to laugh, another mess. The Inner and Outer ring road schemes. Upgrades to motorway exit 25, etc etc.
You could not make up the list of blunders.
The approaches to Taunton from the motorway exits 25 and 26 looks like something from eastern Europe in the 1950s - missing edging stones and waist-high grass.
It looks scruffy and a mess.

The region can’t afford a few grass cutting staff to tidy up these approaches despite thousands of new council tax paying new house owners. Why?
If it looks scruffy and run down, it is scruffy and run down.
It would appear to me that no matter how many thousand more houses we build, the more cuts to services we make.
