A TREATMENT for trauma which is so gentle it is recommended for new born babies is being offered at a Taunton health centre.

Lynn Shorthouse, craniosacral therapist, is offering the first treatment free for under six week olds at The Terrace.

Healing trauma is a delicate matter that requires extreme skill, sensitivity and an experienced practitioner.

Craniosacral therapy is both gentle and sensitive, and encourages embodied experience.

Lynn said: “This is a vital component of healing trauma, which involves bypassing mental defences and thinking patterns, and staying in the present to experience the life-force which was held back or split off in the original traumatic incident.”

Craniosacral therapy can help build up this capacity to feel the core energy in incremental steps, so healing can be manageable alongside day to day life.

Lynn added: “With trauma the body takes every opportunity it can to heal itself. Even flashbacks are just the body’s attempt to sort things out.

“Trauma release works best when there is a balanced approach of touching on the trauma and also building up the sense of safety and ability to handle the experience.”

Lynn, who teaches and supervises craniosacral therapy having tutored at the Karuna Institute and CTET in London, is fully qualified.

She is registered with the Craniosacral Therapy Association and works with adults, teenagers, children and babies.
