THREE-DAY eventer and 15-year-old Queen’s College student Emily King has signed a sponsorship deal with HSBC.

She recently made her debut in the British Junior Team at the European Championships in Portugal, where she placed seventh overall and was the youngest rider in the entire event.

Emily’s mother Mary King is competing in her sixth Olympics this summer as part of the Great Britain equestrian team bidding for gold in London.

Headmaster Chris Alcock is hopeful that Emily will follow her mum into the senior team and take part in a future Olympics herself. “We have a strong equestrian tradition at Queen’s and have been delighted to share in Emily’s recent success. We will be watching Mary with keen anticipation at the Olympics and wish her well.”

Queen’s College is holding interviews for 13+ scholarships, including sport, in the week beginning February 27. Contact Anne Slocum on 01823-340830 or admissions@queenscollege.org.uk for details.
