A POSSIBLE move for Somerset County Cricket Club gathered pace after comments from the chief executive in a fan newsletter.

Peter Anderson wrote of a potential move in the newsletter, sent to fans in October 2001.

He wrote: "The issue of a ground move remains a possibility as offers continue to arrive on the chief executive's desk.

"The club's policy is that when a credible proposal has been received it will be placed before members."

He said the move could take five years and that he was well aware of opposition to the plan.

"There are those who would seek to prevent any investigation of such a ground move, but your committee is confident that the majority of members would wish the club to look forward," he added.

The move never materialised.
