MORE than 40 people have jumped off the roof of Debenhams in Taunton.
But it was all for a good cause as the group was part of an event fundraising for St Margaret’s Hospice.
Organiser of the event, held in August 1996, Major Adrian Stables from the Territorial Army (TA), said around £3,000 was raised by the participants.
“The event was very successful with everyone in good spirits about the challenge,” he said.
“We managed to get so many people involved by sending out mail shots to local companies to interest employees in helping.”
Among those daring the heights was Chris Wood, pictured, from Taunton Land Rover.
Taunton’s TA completed a fundraiser earlier in the year, scaling the highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales, raising more than £1,700.
And further fundraisers for the hospice were planned for later that year, including a sponsored slim and a raft race.
