LADYMEAD Community School in Taunton proudly unveiled its new space-age podular laboratory in the week of November 22, 1991.
Representatives from firms including Courtaulds of Bridgwater, plus local dignitaries and education staff, were present at the opening ceremony.
The new lab contains four octagonal podules with bridging sink units. Each podule has a central console containing fas and electrical services and is surrounded by isolation units.
The equipment is designed to encourage group work, in keeping with the school's teaching and learning styles and modes of assessment.
The picture shows science teacher Sarah Messenger and Avimo managing director Dr Frank Hope watch an experiment by Joanna Sangster, Ben Holton, Philip Hurst and Catherine Davies.
