EFFORTS by pupils and staff at Blackbrook Primary School to forge links in Europe were recognised with the European Curriculum Award from the Central Bureau for Educational Visits and Exchanges.
The school was given the award in the week of January 17, 1997, and was one of only six schools in the country to be recognised.
The school was involved in a project encouraging links for several years and communicated with schools by fax, telephone and the internet.
It has strong links with schools in Ireland and Sweden, and received £1,000 to enable it to develop European connections further.
Headteacher Gary Hobbs said: "We are all very pleased. The children are enjoying the project and get a tremendous amount from the work.
"The money means we will be able to keep funding the project which is very much part of the curriculum."
