EVERYONE's heard of the three little kittens who lost their mittens, but what about Jack who lost his stowaway sister Jill from the back of a hay trailer.
The tale is no fairy story was reported by Clayhidon smallholder John Kidner who lost seven-year-old brown and ginger tabby Jill on his trailer with Jack from the same litter.
Speaking in the week of March 7, 1997, he said: "She must have jumped out somewhere between my home at Wiltown Valley and West Monkton where I was taking the hay to a friend.
"The pair are inseparable and must have sneaked in between the bales to shelter from the wind and rain.
"But when I started unloading there was Jack without his sister."
Ann Kidner, his wife, said: "We re-traced the route a week after she went missing and contacted the RSPCA and the cats protection league, but there's still no sign of her.
"Her brother is pining for her."
