If you lived in Cheddon in 1992, then here was some news which you had been waiting 25 years for as The Cheddon Fitzpaine Panto had been revived after a quarter of a century.

The panto group were back with two performances of Jack and the Beanstalk.

The story which the Somerset County Gazette reported back on Friday, March 13, 1992, explained the panto group were back together to perform Linda Nash's version of Jack at the Memorial Hall.

One of the stars of the show was Stuart Triggol (Widow Twankey) who had been cast as a dwarf in the Cheddoners' last production in 1967.

Speaking in the week, March 13, 1992, Mrs Nash said: "The idea was to get villagers together and create a community feeling. The youngest child was just five and a pensioner also took part.

"Most villagers not on stage or behind the scene came to watch. It's pulled us closer together as a community.

"Some of the acting was quiet good, the scenery was superb and the costumes were amazing."

The panto was always staged in March to avoid clashes with other local groups.
