Inspirational speaker at Castle

OLYMPIC equestrian silver medallist Mary King was guest of honour at The Castle School, Taunton, when the specialist sports college held its presentation evening.

Mary presented examination certificates and a range of other awards and colours to students who completed their year 11 courses earlier this year.

Head teacher Kevin Freedman said the he was delighted that Mary was able to attend.

"Her achievements make her an inspiration and role model and her address to the students, which concentrated on the importance of pursuing your dreams, was entirely appropriate for former pupils now stepping out into a wider world and taking on greater challenges," he said.

Mr Freedman was proud to speak of the school's results this year, with 84% of students gaining five or more A to C passes at GCSE.
