Voters go to the polls

VOTERS in Comeytrowe, Taunton, are going to the polls today.

The vacancy on Taunton Deane Council arose after the death of ward councillor Tony Floyd.

The candidates standing for election are:

  • Dorothy Rose Baker, of Cranmer Road, Taunton, UKIP.

  • Mollie Floyd, of Outer Gullands, Taunton, LibDem.

  • Wendy Skene, of Comeytrowe Lane, Conservative.

    Polls are open at Comeytrowe Community Centre until 10pm with the count taking place on the night.

    Comeytrowe, a three-seat ward with an electorate of 4,500, had election results in 2007 as follows: Alan Paul, LibDem, 1,258 votes, 20.34% of vote, elected; Tony Floyd, LibDem, 1,231, 19.91%, elected; Alan Wedderkopp, LibDem, 1,162, 18.79%, elected; Patricia Anne Pearson, Conservative, 798, 12.9%; Christopher Palmer, Conservative, 787, 12.73%; Eric Edward Bussell, Conservative, 763 12.34%; Doug Eckhart, Labour, 185, 2.99%.
