TAUNTON Town have said their financial situation is improving despite announcing a £9,000 loss on the year at their AGM last Thursday.
Board member Tom Harris put the loss down to the depreciation of their assets.
He said: "Depreciation owed for about £8,000 of the losses.
"Really, we're making up on what we've owed from previous years.
"If you take other things into account, we're breaking even.
"We are quite heartened by the situation. Gate receipts and social club takings were up and it looks as through we're going in the right direction."
Taunton's poor financial situation has hampered efforts to keep hold of their top players since joining the Southern League.
However, they believe things are looking up and have increased manager Ian Jones's budget this season.
Their efforts to increase income has also seen them install a new commercial director - Jerry Sparks - whose appointment was verified at the AGM.
"Jerry's come on to the board and brought lots of new ideas," said Harris.
"There's plenty in the pipe-line as regards our finances. We could do with some of it now, whic is always the case, but we're confident of having a good year financially."
