SHOPPERS should get three hours’ free parking when they spend £20 in Taunton, a councillor believes.
Opposition LibDem Cllr Jefferson Horsley wants Taunton Deane Council to back the move and other trade-boosting measures.
He also wants permit bus pass users to be able to travel free from the town’s two park-and-ride sites, electronic signs highlighting availability of parking spaces and the park-and-ride to run on Sundays for Christmas 2013.
Mr Horsley will tell the full council on Tuesday (December 11) retailers are angry at increased traffic which has led to fewer people going into the town, coupled with the loss of 625 parking spaces in three years.
