A WOMAN who won an award for looking after her ill son has now been shortlisted national recognition.
Brenda Prentice, from Taunton, was nominated for the awards in Bristol after looking after her son Andrew, 38, for 23 years before he died from pancreatitis.
Brenda, who founded Somerset Community Care Matters group three years ago, said she hopes to be able to provide advice for people with health or social care problems.
She is shortlisted in the unpaid carers category for the Great British Care Awards ceremony in London in Spring 2013.
She said: “I was astounded but I accepted this award on behalf of the army of unpaid carers.”
