A GROUP of people with pride in their community have received a £2,000 boost to help keep it neat and tidy.
The cash, from Taunton Deane Council, will be used to train them in using and maintaining small power tools and knapsack weed sprayers.
The young men, some unemployed and part of a team called Link Power, have been cutting back weeds and clearing up litter around the Link Centre since the summer.
The money comes from a ‘special expenses precept’ levied on unparished areas of the town.
A Deane spokesman said: “The training will directly help the young men to gain confidence, skills and qualifications which will help them towards future employment.”
