Funeral of Liam Taylor to be held on Saturday

THE funeral of teenage motocross rider Liam Taylor will take place this weekend.

Liam, 19, of Chard, had signed for the Taunton-based Oakleaf Kawasaki motocross club shortly before his death on December 18.

He died at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol from injuries sustained in a crash in Station Road, Ilminster, the previous evening.

The former Holyrood Academy student’s funeral will be held at St Mary’s Church in Chard at midday on Saturday (January 5).

Liam was a member of the Oakleaf Kawasaki team run by Shaun Anthony, of Taunton.

Following Liam’s death, Mr Anthony posted a tribute to him on the internet which read: “In November it was confirmed that Liam would represent the team at the South-West Premier for 2013.

“Liam was a very talented rider, and would always be pushing his limits with his amazing jumping style and ambitious style on the track.

“Our thoughts are with his family and we hope he is racing with the angels.”

After Liam’s death his sister, Della Wilkinson, told the County Gazette: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the amount of support we’ve received.

“The flowers left at the scene are testament to how much Liam was liked by people.”

Dave a 19 year old boy/man should not be dead. No person that young should ever die.

Speed kills though and unfortunately this adds to another statistic for young drivers.

It does not matter how many people turn up to a funeral, that is not an issue to Liam's loved ones.

Sadly nothing will ever bring this boy/man back and that really is the tragic thing about it.

I couldn't agree with you more.

But the fact is Liam died by no fault of his own he was a passenger.

So your quote:

"Liam was speeding and lost control. How can people really feel sorry about a teenager behind the wheel drive at too fast a rate."

I think this is beyond disrespectful and should have never been said.

Dave I checked the facts and from a roundabout to a left turn hitting a sign post. How is that really possible?

In Weston there was another young person who was billed as a rally driver, he was showing off and went over a cliff.

The road was too blame but was found that he was speeding.

That cost two lifes the person who was driving and his mate.

Liam has not just deprived his family of not having a son and more, but he has also caused trauma to the services who deal with this.Do you know what it is like to see someone bleeding fighting for their lives?

Trust me it is not nice.

Mark1970, your posts are very disrespectful. You're commenting on something that you are assuming happened the way you see it and you don't know the facts. Even if you did, then your comments are distressing. You would never see the emergency services commenting on these things and they are the people that are there and know the facts. There's a reason for this - respect for the dead. Please do the decent thing and remove your comments.

He was not speeding, being wreckless or drinking he was a passenger!!

so what your saying is rude and disresepectful

so i'm sure ur comment on "how can people feel sorry for him" or any person at that rate! no one deserves to die, and i'm sure ur a strict speed limit fanatic and have never ever broke the limit!!

Dave I honestly feel sorry for Liam's family and friends for losing a close friend, family member etc.

I could go more into the logistics of the accident, but as you say that is disrespectful to the family.

To which I do apologize if my comments have been deemed as crass, but I am sick of seeing young life's being taken away not just from the deceased but also the family left behind.

One of my childhood memories was to call for a friend when I was five years of age to be told that she had gone to heaven, and I asked when was she coming back so I know how much it hurts trust me. Sadly in later life I saw more than anyone should do.

This Government really should raise the age limit of driving although accidents will happen no matter how old you are, but I am glad that I never passed my test the first time, it made me a better driver and I have driven hundreds of thousands of miles without an accident.
