Stop smoking TV ad can help Somerset smokers
9:00pm Monday 14th January 2013 in News
The hard hitting anti-smoking advert showing a tumour in a cigarette.
A HARD-HITTING campaign has been launched to convince smokers in Taunton Deane and West Somerset to quit.
A series of new TV adverts show a tumour growing on a cigarette while it is being smoked to illustrate how tobacco binds and mutates a person’s DNA.
For advice on quitting smoking, visit www.smokefree.nhs.uk or see your GP.

What works better than all these adverts (my wife wondered what it was growing from the cigarette in the advert) is to spend a week or so in hospital, recovering from an operation.
NO SMOKING for several days prior to the op - and no smoking afterwards (although patients are still allowed to nip outside for a fag - crazy!) while on the ward.
By the time you get home you've begun to hate the smell and the taste of cigarettes - get over the craving and it's job done!
(What operation did my wife have? Bowel cancer .....say no more.)
