THE latest donations to the Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment (SURE) appeal to equip the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, include £250 from the sale of books at the Golden Fleece pub in Tatworth, Chard.

The County Gazette-backed SURE appeal has also received £142.50 from Bathealton Parochial Church Council, £45.19 from St Michael’s Church, Galmington, and £5 from Stephen Bench.

Collections of 5p coins were £155 from the Beacon Centre, £50 from Frank Long at Chard and Tatworth, and £30 from Smeatharpe WI. Collection boxes brought in £56.02 from the Esso Garage in Wellington Road, Taunton, £34.05 from the One-Stop Shop in Galmington and £22.10 from Honey Hairdressers.

The total raised since SURE joined up with the Gazette now stands at £316,687.
