MORE details have emerged about the make-over of two wooden pigs which once lived in Taunton’s orchard shopping centre.

We revealed last week how two porkers – a third is beyond repair – removed from public view several years ago, are going on a ‘snout and about’ tour in the town before being auctioned off in aid of the Brewhouse Theatre.

Artist Michael Fairfax has used one to create the Polden Pig along with a story he’ll tell at Taunton Library and Waterstones during the tour.

Another artist, Natalie Parsley, has named her hog Pigsaw.

The pigs will be unveiled exclusively in the County Gazette before the tour starts in the centre on Monday, February 11.

A Brewhouse spokesman said: “We’re delighted to be able to resurrect the pigs.

“They were never intended to be reinstated as public seating due to their unavoidable poor state of repair.

“It’s wonderful that after all this time out of the limelight they’re stimulating comment and debate.”
