A DEDICATED postman who forged on with his job despite the snow died on Saturday (January 19).

John Bircham, who had been based at Royal Mail's Dulverton delivery office for 25 years, is believed to have suffered a heart attack while trying to free his van from a snow drift.

Mr Bircham's boss Ian Frankum said: "It is with great sadness that colleagues at the Dulverton delivery office learned of the death of postman John Bircham at the weekend.

"He will be sorely missed by his colleagues and our deepest sympathy goes to his family and friends at this sad time."
