Devon is still in the grip of icy weather and snow, with all 37 snow ploughs out on the county's roads overnight.

The Highways Agency said major routes are open and most roads are passable if drivers take care.

The fresh snowfall has affected South Devon and Torbay.

There were problems for lorries on the A380 between Newton Abbot and Exeter due to snow at Haldon, with an accident at Holcombe Hill, Dawlish.

There are also hazardous driving conditions on many of the Dartmoor roads.

Many schools are either closed or opening late.

A spate of collisions caused by ice and hail caused gridlock in parts of the county yesterday, with one man dead after a crash near Plymouth.

A yellow alert is still in place for today, and tomorrow, (Thursday) with the Met Office saying:  "As temperatures fall on Wednesday night, icy stretches are likely to form on many untreated surfaces, especially where residual showers drift inland off the English Channel."
