The lorry was removed on Friday night, with the driver continuing on his journey once the tyres had been replaced.

Kevin Steer lives in the house which the lorry is wedged against. 

He said: "Lorries have often taken the guttering off over the years but this is the first time one has actually embedded itself into the house - it is in the roof slates. 

"It has caused a lot of damage, it has ripped off guttering, and the main electric cable.

"There are three stones which have blown the tyres, so it's going to be a logistical nightmare to remove it as it is just resting on the rims. 

"I believe it was taking 44 tones of paper from Taunton to Watchet, so it shouldn't have been in Brompton Regis at all, but the driver was following a GPS navigation system.

"I look out of my window every day and worry about this happening and I think it's high time that a navigation system specifically for lorries was made to avoid these unnecessary problems. 

"These roads were designed for horse and cart, not 44-tonne horses and carts!

"We can't assess the damage until the lorry is removed and we don't know when that will be. 

"It could take some time to be repaired and there will be disruption to traffic because we are right on the road here. 

"I have had to take a day off work today to stay at home because I want to make sure that no more damage is caused by it being removed. 

"I have been in touch with the Polish company which owns the lorry - Skat - and they assure me they are fully covered by insurance and are organising for it to be removed."

A LORRY is blocking a road on Exmoor after becoming wedged against a house shortly before 7pm yesterday (January 31).

Sanctuary Lane in Brompton Regis is closed in both directions between the Combeshead Hill junction and the Bryant's Hill junction.

The lorry was left there overnight so it could be recovered in daylight hours and the Highways Agency is dealing with that today. 

Drivers are being advised to find an alternative route.
