Priory Bridge Road re-opens - a week early Priory Bridge Road re-opens - a week early

PRIORY Bridge Road, in Taunton, is open both ways this morning (February 4).

The road was closed in one direction last week due to mains works by Wessex Water.

It caused fury among motorists after 150-minute queues formed to get out of the Morrisons car park.

The work was scheduled to last a fortnight, but the water firm completed the scheme in half that time.

Watch this space and the Somerset County Gazette for further Wessex Water work.

They only dig a couple of holes to get to the pipes and then reline the existing pipe with a membrane that hardens. Fair old number of vehicles and manpower though and you know what H&S is like nowadays.

A new reservoir would be a little irresponsible considering that it is a main road.

I was expecting it to be a bigger job than it was considering the disruption it caused.
