TAUNTON's most lucrative street to live in is EIGHT times more expensive that the cheapest road in the town.

Figures from house price sales in the last five years from OurProperty.co.uk show properties in Lodge Close, near Taunton Deane cemetery, are on average the priciest to live in at a pocket-busting £485,000.

There are also a number of exclusive addresses in streets off Trull Road including Haines Hill, which currently sell for an average of £473,666, closely followed by Queen's Drive on £460,750.

Other hotspots include Hammett Street (£391,000) in the town centre, Stonegallows (£363,441) heading out of Taunton the A38 and Holway Avenue, which links South Street and Silver Street which runs in at £357,500.

If you have your eyes of Millionaire's Row then you have to look closer to the sea with Brudenell Avenue in Poole topping the South-West table at an impressive average property price of £1.98million.

Michael Dukes, of Greenslade Taylor Hunt, said there may not be room for a Millionaire's Row in Taunton but there is scope for properties around the £3/4million mark.

He said: “We are working on a scheme which will see a birth of new up-market low density properties because that is what people with money want.

“The top ten list is bang on - properties in these areas tick all the boxes in terms of interesting architecture, good schools, quiet backdrops and the convenience of the town centre nearby.”

The average house price in Taunton Deane at the end of last year was £217,521, around £55,000 above the national average of £162,080.

Figures show detached properties fetching £316,912, semi-detached costing £194,462, terraced houses selling for £166,409 and flats for £127,309.

West Somerset boasts the highest average house price across the county setting you back £233,145 on average for a property.

There are ten streets in Taunton where the average priced paid for a property in the last five years was below £105,000, including one in Halcon, four in the town centre, two in Rowbarton, two in Holway and one in Sherford.
