Cash boost for Creech St Michael 'Pop-In Club'
4:00pm Wednesday 13th February 2013 in News
TWO community stalwarts have received vital funding to help continue their 'Pop-In Club'.
Eric and Peggy Cartwright have been running the club for the last decade and say it is very important to people in Creech St Michael.
Peggy said: “It is a great way for people who would never normally see anyone to get together for a coffee and chat.”
She said that the group will use the £700 funding to go on a day trip for all of the members - which is approaching nearly 40 people.
The money is part of David Fothergill's Health and Wellbeing allocation from the County Council and will be used by the group to help fund seasonal trips and further activities for the members.
Cllr Fothergill said: “I am delighted to be able to help. I think we were all sorry to see the loss of the Over Sixties Club in Creech St Michael and I hope that this will go some way to help further establish the Pop-In Club as a valuable community organisation.”
District councillor for the village Kelly Durdan added: “I'm really pleased that David has been able to help the club and its members in a very tangible and financial way, it is so very important that these grass roots village organisations are supported.”
The Pop In Club meet next Wednesday on a fortnightly basis in Creech St Michael Village hall between 10am and 11am.
