A COURAGEOUS youngster battling with cancer has been recognised with a bravery award.
Tiny Josie Corry, of Blackmoor Road, has been presented with a Little Star award from Cancer Research UK after going through aggressive cancer treatment over the last 15 months.
Josie, aged four, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia a year ago but it didn’t stop her bright and bubbly personality from shining through.
Mum Jessica, 34, said: “Even when Josie’s hair fell out she was just so pleased she didn’t have to wash it. “She is now in her maintenance treatment; she started school in September and is now full time.
“Josie is doing great and is enjoying learning and has made some lovely friends. She is coping fantastically well with still having to go to hospital and the new beginnings of school.” Josie, who attends West Monkton Primary School, also received a £50 TK Maxx gift card and certificate signed by celebrities after her mum nominated her.
Jessica added: “What my little girl has had to cope with over the last year is phenomenal – she is our inspiration.”
Josie will be on maintenance treatment until January 2014 with regular visits to Musgrove Park Hospital in between.
