ORGANISERS of the popular 50/50 Charity Cycle Ride say they are looking forward to a successful event this year.

The popular ride, run by the Rotary Club of Taunton, is in its 18th year, and in that time participants have raised more than £160,000 for good causes.

It offers riders the chance to donate half the money they raise to their own charity with the rest going to Rotary causes.

This year’s event takes place on Sunday, June 9, and offers participants a choice of six rides on the Quantocks from 11 miles up to 57 miles.

For the first time organisers are offering the chance to take part in a ten-mile Time Trial challenge at the event, organised by Wellington Wheelers.

A spokesman said: “Also this year we’re running a raffle with the first prize of a bike donated by sponsors Ralph Colman Cycles.

“Every £50 in sponsorship raised entitles riders to another raffle ticket.”

A grand promotion day for the ride takes place on Castle Green in Taunton on April 6 with entertainment from 11am.

Entry costs £12.50 per rider – for details call 01823-277057 or email ford-jacky@sky.com
