Mind launches £30,000 appeal

MENTAL health charity Mind in Taunton and West Somerset has launched an anniversary appeal for £30,000 to plug a funding gap.

The organisation, which offers services to people with conditions such as depression, anxiety and schizophrenia, receives most of its funding from public agencies on a ‘payment by results’ basis.

Chairman Jean Grant said: “That’s fine if we can afford to provide services until the results and the payments come through.

“That’s really hard for a small charity, so we’re asking our supporters and local businesses to contribute to a £30,000 fund - £1,000 for every year of our existence so far – which will maintain our work through this funding gap.”

The charity has a small staff backed by over 40 volunteers and has had more than 6,500 client contacts over the past year.
