ENGAGE West Somerset is celebrating after its long-awaited replacement van, adorned with the charity’s new logo, is finally on the road.

The van was bought using grants from Restore Hope West Somerset, Somerset Community Foundation and Western Somerset Local Action for Rural Communities (LARC) and is already making collections and deliveries for the popular Furniture Re-Use Project.

Engage manager Katrina Midgley said: “We are delighted that the new van is now on the road. We are so grateful to our funders for making this possible.

“A reliable vehicle is essential to the survival of our Furniture Re-Use Project.

“Without it we would not be able to collect and deliver the furniture that is donated and sold.

“A huge thank you is also due to Minehead’s Active Signs for developing the logo, which is now on the van, at no extra cost.”

The service, which recycles furniture that would otherwise end up in landfill sites while raising funds for Engage’s charitable activities, is based in the ground floor of Alcombe Village Hall in Marshfield Road and is open from 9.30am to 2.30pm, Tuesday to Friday, and from 10am to 2pm on Saturdays.
