AN 89-year-old man from North Petherton has warned vulnerable elderly people to be on guard against possible fraudsters.
Samuel Marks said he was driving in the village on Wednesday when he had to stop as a red Mini was parked in front of him at a junction.
The driver, who spoke with a foreign accent, got out and told Mr Marks he was lost on his way to Gatwick Airport.
He then offered Mr Marks a watch and finally asked for £40 for fuel.
Mr Marks said: “I don’t believe he was on his way to Gatwick. Another person told me something similar happened to them recently, so I think there are people targeting vulnerable people.”
