STOLEN bicycles are being refurbished by youngsters at Minehead Middle School and given away - but it's all legal and above board.
The scheme is taking place under the auspices of West Somerset Crimne Prevention Panel.
Desmond Parsons, a member of the panel, said: "We collect stolen bikes from the police, after they have retained them for three months to allow the owners to claim them.
"We take them to Minehead Middle School where youngsters do them up, learning about cycle maintenance at the same time.
"Then we offer them to people who may be in need of a machine, but don't have the money to buy one.
"Or we offer them to overseas charities, who can export them to third world countries."
