Minehead library prepares for major renovation
2:00pm Monday 16th September 2013 in News
MINEHEAD is set to become the latest Somerset library to move to self-service borrowing when new technology is installed during a major renovation.
The library, in Bancks Street, run by Somerset County Council, will be closed from September 23 and will re-open on October 28.
A mobile library parked outside will provide an alternative service between September 24 and October 22, from 9am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday (except Wednesdays) and 9am to 4pm on Saturdays.
The self-service machines will allow customers to borrow, renew and return books and other items as well as to check reservations and pay charges.
Customers can also return and borrow items at any other Somerset or LibrariesWest Library.
Items can be renewed online at www.librarieswest.org .uk or by speaking to a customer advisor on 0845-3459177.
In addition to the installation, energy-efficient lighting will be fitted, and a new enquiries desk and shelving layout put in.
