ENGLAND’S longest “heritage” line is holding its Autumn Steam Gala starting this Thursday (October 3).
This year’s theme is the Cambrian Railways and the atmosphere of the railway routes in Mid-Wales as they were in the 1950’s and 60’s will be recreated.
Station nameboards will be changed and there will be eight steam engines all in action, all Great Western Railway designed.
There will be opportunities to visit places of interest along the route including medieval Dunster and the castle.
The museums at Bishops Lydeard, Washford and Blue Anchor will have their museums open on all four days.
Workshops will be open on Saturday and Sunday in Williton for a look behind the scenes.
The ladies of the station staff at Crowcombe Heathfield have made themselves traditional Welsh costumes.
The Gala will be running from Thursday until Sunday October 6.
