"I was pleased with my time because I have not done nearly as many miles in training as I would normally have done by this stage," he said.
Wheelchair entrant Dave Cooke suffered a puncture after a mile, which slowed him down.

The women are looking to smash the 34 minute record for their category.
MONEY raised from today's event goes towards next month's Taunton Carnival.
THE weather is currently dry with temperatures of around 16degs C.
Runners will hope the rain holds off - there's a 12% chance of showers later on - and that the mercury doesn't rise much.
A FULL field of 650 runners are limbering up for the Taunton 10k race today, Sunday, September 29.
Volunteers are putting the final touches to ensure everything runs smoothly at the annual race.
The athletes of all abilities will go under starter's orders at 11am, with the first runner expected home in around 30 minutes.
Less fit participants should all have completed the course within 90 minutes.
