MARTINA Forster has been named as the new chairman of governors at Minehead Middle School.

She has been a governor at the school since 2010 is also a parent governor at St Dubricius CofE School in Porlock.

Mrs Forster has been chairman of the St Dubricius governors for the last three years and has two children at Minehead Middle School.

She replaces outgoing chairman Geoff Lloyd, who will continue as a governor in the role of vicechairman.

Mrs Forster said: “During the past six years Geoff has led and supported the Middle School’s governors very effectively, acting as a critical friend which has taken the school from strength to strength.

“We all thank Geoff for his commitment, wisdom and leadership. I feel immensely proud to be chair and I am looking forward to both continuing and developing Geoff’s work, as well as helping to support the head, governors and staff in the excellent job they do.”

Mr Lloyd said: “Martina brings a wealth of experience to Minehead Middle School at a time when the standard of education and teaching and the ethos of care has never been better.

“We are immensely proud of the school and all the children, who continue to make outstanding progress in our care.”
