THE couple celebrating in Somerset this afternoon.
DIONE and Richard Buss.
THE couple's total win was £1,888,630.
The pair, who have a daughter, bought their ticket in Cornwall but were back home in Stogursey, near Bridgwater, when Saturday's draw was made.
The couple told the media this afternoon that they almost threw away their winning ticket thinking that it was for a previous draw.
Dione said: “Richard had put the ticket out for the recycling and to remind me to buy the next one.
"Fortunately I double-checked it and realized we still had another draw to go.
“We actually found out we’d won on Sunday night but it was really late and we couldn’t speak to anyone from Camelot until 9am on the Monday.
"I didn’t sleep a wink that night – I watched the TV and did the ironing instead.”
Following their win the couple plan to buy their dream home, climb the Great Wall of China and devote their time to fundraising for a number of charitable causes close to their hearts.
Dione, who has MS, hopes to help raise money for the Brahms Unit at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol, the Children’s Heart Unit at the Bristol Royal Infirmary and for cancer charities who helped her father in his recent battle with prostate cancer.
She said: “We still haven’t actually bought anything with our winnings yet but the main thing that our jackpot win will give us is quality time together and it will enable us to treat our nearest and dearest.”
Their lucky numbers were 10, 12, 14, 25, 46 and 48.
The cost of playing the Lottery goes up to £2 from tomorrow's draw.
THE win for Mr and Mrs Buss follows that of Roger and Kathleen Whitehouse, from Minehead, who scooped £1,000,000 on the EuroMillions in January.
A COUPLE from Somerset are celebrating after scooping a £1.8million jackpot on the National Lottery.
